Moisture Barriers
A moisture barrier is a polyethylene barrier laid on the ground of a crawlspace and staked down in order to prevent the evaporation of water into the substructure. They are NOT taped at the seams or sealed to any part of the foundation. While a moisture barrier on its own will not remove moisture, it is sometimes needed to pass inspection when a home is sold. We can provide moisture barriers from 6mil up to 20mil in thickness.
Dehumidifiers
While an encapsulation is always recommended to control moisture and protect your dehumidifier, sometimes a dehumidifier is requested on its own or in combination with a moisture barrier and sealed vents when a home is being sold. This is a more economical option if you know you will not be in your home for a long period of time but still want to take steps to prevent damage.
