Crawl space mold remediation removes mold and fungus from the wood framing under your home and seals it so it can't regrow. Cobb treats the joists, sill plates and walls with an EPA-registered antimicrobial, scrubs the growth off and seals the wood. Pricing is about $2.50 per square foot treated, and it's included in our Sapphire encapsulation package.
Signs of mold in your crawl space
- A musty or earthy smell inside the house, especially on humid days
- White, gray, green or black fuzz or spots on joists and subfloor
- Insulation sagging or falling out of the joists
- Soft or springy floors
- Allergy symptoms that feel worse at home
Our mold remediation process
- Inspect and measure. We photograph the growth and take moisture readings on the wood and in the air.
- Remove damaged material. Wet or moldy insulation is bagged out.
- Treat and scrub. An EPA-registered antimicrobial goes on the affected framing, and the growth is scrubbed off.
- Seal the wood. Treated wood is sealed so spores can't take hold again.
- Fix the cause. Without moisture control, mold returns. We recommend sealing and dehumidifying with encapsulation.
Why mold keeps coming back
Mold needs moisture. Bleach or a one-time spray treats what you can see, but if the crawl space still runs above 60% humidity, it grows back. That's why we pair remediation with vent sealing, a vapor barrier and a dehumidifier.
